Researching
I can help you research your family tree in order to find those stories that have been lost to time. My rate is very affordable at $50/hour. Every new client receives a 30 minute free consultation to discuss research questions and create one that would be reasonable within your budget. Once you hire me, there is a 10 hour minimum, with a 5 hour retainer due at the beginning of the project and the rest due upon completion, after which I send you your personalized research report! This rate includes reviewing and analyzing background information you provide me with at the start of the project, creating a research plan, executing the plan by collecting relevant documentation for your research question, and preparing a professional research report with source citations. You are paying me for my time, not for results. No professional genealogist can guarantee you results, but even if I am not able to answer the research question in the given time set by you, you will receive valuable information of where I have searched plus recommended next steps.
Examples of questions might be:
- Where did my great grandparents on my mother’s side immigrate from?
- There is a family story that my great uncle died on a train out west. Is that true?
- What year did my Adgate line come to the United States of America?
- Where is my great great grandfather Smith buried? What was his occupation? Who were his spouse(s) and other children?
Mentoring
I provide mentoring services at the rate of $50/hour. These are purchased by the hour with no minimum required. This is for the client that wants the joy and challenge of doing their own research but may be stuck or just needs tips to help raise their skills to the next level.
